Adding new textures to our implementation of butterflies is an easy way to add variety. However, we can strive to do better. Our ultimate goal is to have achievements for catching all butterfly varieties, but this becomes too easy when butterflies of all varieties can spawn anywhere.

Spirits of the Cloud Peaks
16 Mirtul 1368
We leave the cave and head northward, where we encounter a creature that resembles a female elf with green skin and hair. She appears to be a Dryad, a forest spirit I have only read about in books.
Butterflies Part 2: The Rest of the @!#$ Owl
In Part 1 we coded a butterfly entity. Now we need to put the rest of the pieces together, so we can model, render, register, and ultimately spawn butterflies in our Minecraft world!
Model
Every entity needs a model.
Butterflies Part 1: Entities
I’m developing my own version of a Butterfly mod for Minecraft. Naturally, one of the first features I want to implement are the butterflies themselves.
Ghosts and Xvarts
13 Mirtul 1368
The Gnolls have a stronghold to the west of Nashkel where they are holding captives, including Minsc’s witch, Dynaheir. We have prepared ourselves for an expedition, however there is still one more thing to do before we leave.
We make our way to Nashkel’s south bridge.
Accusations
12 Mirtul 1368
After saving a child from a baby wyvern in Nashkel, we tried to find him to make sure he was still alive. Our search was fruitless, until we returned to Nashkel’s main street and found the kid talking to a few local soldiers.
Miniature Giant Space Hamsters
12 Mirtul 1368
In Nashkel we have learned of the many troubles in the area: that Brage, the captain of the guard has become a fugitive for murdering his family; the mines are producing inferior ore (and may be haunted by demons); and that there are hauntings afoot in the town.
Modding Minecraft: Getting Started
The Forge website has a quick guide to getting started with modding. I’m just getting back into it, so I thought I’d walk through the steps to get a project set up with Forge.
One Line To Ruin Them All
I worked at Codemasters for over three years. I did well there. I learned a lot and became a the programmer I am today. If it wasn’t for them I would never have become a network programmer.
When I decided to move to London they didn’t want me to go.
Things to (not) do in NYC
One of my earliest trips abroad was to New York City. Unfortunately, any pictures of that journey have been lost a long time ago, so instead here’s a list of things you should do in New York City. Or not do.
