I’ve been travelling around SEA for a while now, and there have been a lot of butterflies along the way. I’ve decided to add a few of the butterflies I’ve seen around to the butterfly mod, helping to pad out the variety of butterflies players can encounter.
Common Grass Yellow
I kept seeing these small yellow butterflies when hiking on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. I loved that they had these small black highlights at the edge of their wings. These butterflies are known to lay large numbers of eggs, so I set their EggMultiplier
to DOUBLE
.
Commander Butterfly
I saw this butterfly hanging out around a Buddha statue when hiking the Monk’s Trail in Chiang Mai, so I decided to add this one to the mod. I’m not 100% happy with the design, but I think I managed to get some of the Commander’s essence into it.
Common Birdwing Butterfly
I saw this huge butterfly in Vientiane close to the Presidential Palace. It is the biggest butterfly I’ve ever seen, and I knew as soon as I saw it I’d be adding it to the mod.
Since this butterfly is so big in real life, I added a new HUGE
size for the butterflies. I retroactively set that size on the swallowtail butterfly as well, since they are supposed to be the biggest butterflies around.
Blue Moon Butterfly
I kept seeing this one all over Laos, but every time I tried to get a picture of one it would fly away. Eventually I managed to get a picture of one at the Buddha Park in Vientiane and was able to identify its species. This is another dimorphic species, so I’ve designed both a male and a female version.
Release 5.0.0
And with these butterflies added, moths are now officially released! Including the Clipper varieties, there are now over 30 butterflies and 10 moths to play with. They each have more unique behaviours, and players now have the ability to breed them like other mobs. So update and check out the newer features!
