Located on the outskirts to the east of the city, MAIIAM is building that looks like it is covered in tall mirrors.” to “MAIIAM is a building covered in tall mirrors, a sleek and eye-catching exterior that makes it feel newly built.
Travel
Stories of my travels around the world.
Wat Pha Lat: Monk’s Trail
I love hiking, so of course we searched for a good hike in Chiang Mai. Wat Pha Lat, also known as the Monk’s Trail is one of the most popular hikes in the area, starting just on the edge of the city.
Dream Space Gallery: Street Art
As in most cities, Chiang Mai has art galleries, but some are a little more hidden away. Just south east of Chiang Mai’s Old Town Wall, you will find a place called the Dream Space Gallery.
Chiang Mai Prison Massage
In 1974 sociologist Robert Martinson argued that nothing works. This led to less focus on rehabilitation in the USA, and more focus on punishment. Being from Europe, I was always surprised to hear American judges talk about “punishments” when referring to sentences. Shouldn’t prisons be about rehabilitation.
Exploring Chiang Mai Temples
On our first day in Chiang Mai we decided to try out the prison massage. We had to book a few hours in advance, however, so we decided to wander the city and see what we could find.
Learning Cabaret is a Life
While wandering Koh Tao we were handed a flyer for the Queen’s Cabaret. This is the local drag queen show. We were interested, but were unsure if it would be worth seeing.
Hiking to the Top of Koh Tao
I had to do at least one hike in Koh Tao. We decide to pick a route that would take us to the top of the island.
Too Late to Build a Sandcastle?
Sometimes we assume that parts of our childhood are universal, that everyone has experienced. It’s easy to forget that things that seem so normal to you aren’t normal to you. To not realise that some parts of your childhood have not been experienced by others around the world.
Blue Seas and a Blue Lagoon
Sometimes it’s easier to have a day planned for you. In Koh Phangan we wanted to try some kayaking, so we booked a tour that would allow us to do so. We spent most of the day on the water, exploring a few islands we never even though to visit.
Stories from Koh Phangan
We did a lot of interesting things while on Koh Phangan. A lot of it not really worth a full article to talk about. So here’s a short photo journal of some of the things we got up to before we set sail for Koh Tao.
