Due to being woefully underprepared, Mount Fuji was the hardest mountain I’d ever climbed. The adventure didn’t stop at the mountain, however. At the time the day was full of ups and downs. Now, as with all things like this, it’s a good story to tell.

2023: In Spite of Mud and Rain
Despite what you may have read in the news, Burning Man 2024 was actually pretty fun. We didn’t get to do as much as usual, thanks to the flooding. But it was still as unique a Burn as any other. This is a more accurate summary of MudBurn 2023.
Cnamha La Loba Parade 2023
They call her La Loba, the Wolf Woman, the gatherer of bones. She wanders the desert collecting the bones of those in danger of being lost to the world. In her cave she sings flesh onto the skeletons she builds, and they leave with old souls inside them.
Nauru: The Smallest Island Country
The last trip I took before the pandemic started was an island-hopping tour of the South Pacific during which we would celebrate the New Year. I visited many small island countries, including one of the least visited countries on the planet.
The Reason I Stayed: My First Burn
China didn’t go well for me at first. I lost my fiancée, my job, and was struggling to adjust to life in a country so unfamiliar to me. I had all but decided to leave. This is the reason that I stayed.
Burning Japan: My Second Regional
The first regional Burn I ever went to was Dragon Burn, which I ended up having a hand in running. After getting sucked into Burn culture I wanted to see what other regionals were like and, being in Asia, we ended up going to Burning Japan.
China’s Biggest Bar Crawl?
When I lived in China I started a journey that ended up with potentially the largest bar crawl in China. It was an amazing event, and a lot of fun was had by all involved. But I’m hoping that this year the record will be broken.
Getting Caught in the Box
Last week after a tragic attack Dublin’s city center exploded into riots. Supposedly protesting against immigrants destroying the city, they went on to loot, burn, and destroy the city. I was caught in the center of these riots and was at one point scared I wouldn’t get out safely.
Nanjing Jing Jam and My Hand
China left it’s mark on me in more ways than one. I have been mentally, spiritually, and physically altered by my time in the country. This is the story of how I earned one such mark.
Saint Colmcille’s Holy Well
Geocaching is an app that opens up a world to mysterious treasures. People leave “caches” hidden in many places, and the lets you find where they are. It’s often a good way to find hidden secrets, and sometimes you have no idea what you might stumble across.
