I spent some time playing Total War: EMPIRE this week, and managed to make some real progress this time. I’m slowly learning how to play this game properly, but at the same time I’m learning about some of its flaws.
Playing My Steam Library
So many unplayed games in my library… Let’s play them all!
Hitchhiker – A Mystery Game
In this interactive mystery experience, you play a hitchhiker meeting new people as you travel across American highways. With no idea where you are going, or where you came from, you will slowly unravel the mystery that defines your past.
Failed Conquest of Quebec
The Total War series has been a staple of slow, realistic war games since Shogun: Total War came out in the year 2000. Since then there have been numerous titles in the series, each set in different periods of time.
Mysterium: A Psychic Clue Game
Have you ever tried to communicate with a ghost to solve their murder? In Mysterium, that’s exactly what you do; only instead of words, the ghost communicates through cryptic visions. It’s a fantastic concept for a board game, blending deduction with eerie, dreamlike imagery.
It is Time to Get Serious
I never played Serious Sam when it came out, despite it looking like a fun game. At the time of release I was heavily invested in playing or modding Quake and Counter-Strike, and didn’t see the need for another FPS in my collection.
This Time It’s Miracle Sudoku!
In my quest to play through my Steam library, I found another Sudoku game that reinvents the formula with clever new rules.
GRIS Made Me Cry in Colour
What if grief could be painted into a living world? A short yet beautiful game this week, GRIS is an expression of loss, and a story of how we cope. It is a work of art more than it is a game, an interactive experience asking for interpretation.
Warframe: A Frame of a Game
I’ve heard of Warframe, but I never took the time to play it. With a very positive rating on Steam, it promises that you will “awaken as an unstoppable warrior and battle alongside your friends.” I spent around a week playing it to see what it’s all about.
Studio Goya’s Sandwich Sudoku
With a busy Christmas week I’ve not had much time for more complex games. So in-between present unwrapping and the consumption of too much food, I’ve been playing another of Studio Goya’s Sudoko games as an escape from the madness of the holiday.
Replaying Counter-Strike (2)
For a teenager in the early 2000s, Counter-Strike wasn’t just a game. It was an initiation into the world of competitive online gaming. Revisiting it through Counter-Strike II over twenty years later, feels like reconnecting with an old friend who’s sporting a sleek, modern makeover.
