Conquest and War with Brise

After our victorious battle with the Dust Guardian, our empire flourished. Our armies swelled in number and new cities were built on the bones of those we conquered. As our territories expanded we encroached on lands owned by other empires. And none of them are welcoming…

Auriga is host to many intelligent races, and we have subjugated many of them. We would hear whispers of distant empires, but paid them no mind. They were too far away to be a threat. But we didn’t stop our expansion, and that led to our borders meeting theirs.

The Merlen, spirits made of dust encased in armour, agreed on a border with us. We would not enter their lands and they would not enter ours. We are not friends, but we will leave each other alone. The Brisë, however, had other ideas. They did not want borders. They wanted our land.

These people were strange constructs with multiple heads and empty sockets where their eyes should be. They coveted what we had and made no attempt to hide it. They sent an army to the border city of Aldodev, one of our younger and newer cities, and began their siege.

We used the Dust again, used it to raise an army of our own. Their forces were still greater in number, but we had the advantage of terrain. Our city was only accessible through a small canyon, and we used that to our advantage, hailing them with arrows as they attempted to funnel their way to the city walls.

The first day of the siege was unsuccessful. Though they didn’t break through, The half-spider Driders supporting them from the nearby city would raise the dead almost as quickly as we could slay them. We learned to focus our attacks, taking out their forces unit by unit.

They continued their assault for a few days. Though we suffered losses, theirs were much greater. Eventually all that remained of their forces were a single lumbering giant and the Driders. Our army gave chase, but they retreated.

If we’re attacking them, they’re not attacking us, so our army continued its march to the Drider village of Ceratan. With the rest of the Brisë army in retreat, they stood no chance against our army. They put up a desperate fight for 2 whole days. But desperation is no match for discipline. Their militia was destroyed, and the city was razed to the ground.

The Brisë empire is but a shadow compared to ours, and we can raise more armies with haste. Their arrogance in challenging us will cost them everything. I have ordered all our armies to turn their attention toward their lands. We will not stop at Ceratan: we will burn their entire empire to ash.

And when the flames die down, the ruins will stand as a testament to the might of the Wild Walkers. Let all who look upon them know: we do not forgive. We do not forget. Do not test us.
