I lost. It was a long game of ENDLESS Legend, a marathon in fact, but in the end I didn’t come out on top. The nation of Brisë came out on top, but it wasn’t without a long drawn out battle. In the end, my empire just didn’t have what it takes to successfully invade and destroy the country.
It took 300 turns and nearly 20 hours to finish the game, but in the end I lost. I knew it was coming as I had already been given a warning that Brisë was close to a score victory.
So when they started a war with me, I took the opportunity to fight back. I could see from the map that their nation was small, so I figured my only chance would be a successful invasion of their capital.
It went well at first, and despite them having stronger and more experienced troops. I was able to take advantage of the terrain and whittle their numbers down.
Eventually I moved all my armies to their capital and I started the siege. There were only a few turns left, so this would be my last chance to achieve victory. Their defensive forces were overwhelming, however.
They fought back valiantly and I was barely able to put a dent in their forces. This invasion didn’t stand a chance.
Eventually time ran out, the sun set, and victory was declared. I had lost the game.
I hadn’t done as badly as I thought, however. Though I was around 1000 points behind, I was still number 2 in the rankings.
It was a game of endurance as much a game of strategy. In the later parts of the game I started relying on long queues and automation, reducing my need to micromanage every city and army. I also didn’t upgrade my troops as much as I should have.
Perhaps in my next game I’ll focus more on these decisions. But for now I’ll wallow in pity until I finally decide to pick up this game again.
